This course introduces fundamental principles of physical chemistry with a focus on thermodynamics and thermochemistry. Students will explore the basic concepts of thermodynamic systems, energy transformations, and the laws governing heat and work in physical and chemical processes. The course also examines the second law of thermodynamics and the concept of entropy, which explains the direction of spontaneous processes. In addition, students will study thermochemistry, including enthalpy changes and heat effects in chemical reactions. Through theoretical explanations and practical examples, the course aims to develop students’ ability to analyze and interpret energy changes in chemical systems.
