This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental principles of analog electronics and electrical circuit analysis. It is designed to equip students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to analyze, design, and understand basic electronic circuits and semiconductor devices.
The course begins with Electrical Networks under DC and AC Conditions, where students learn the fundamental laws and techniques used to analyze resistive and reactive circuits in both steady-state DC and sinusoidal AC regimes. Topics include Kirchhoff's laws, network theorems, impedance analysis, power calculations, and resonance in RLC circuits.
The second chapter, Two-Port Networks and Passive Filters, introduces the modeling and analysis of two-port electrical networks using different parameter sets. Students also study the design, operation, and frequency response of passive filters, including low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-stop filters.
The third chapter focuses on Semiconductor Diodes, covering the physical principles of semiconductor materials, PN junction formation, diode current-voltage characteristics, and the operation of various diode types. Practical applications such as rectifiers, voltage regulators, and clipping and clamping circuits are also discussed.
Finally, the course concludes with an Introduction to Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs). Students explore the structure, operating principles, and characteristics of BJTs, including their operating regions, biasing techniques, and their use as electronic switches and amplifiers.
By the end of the course, students will be able to analyze electrical networks under DC and AC conditions, evaluate the behavior of two-port circuits and passive filters, understand the operation of semiconductor diodes and bipolar junction transistors, and apply these concepts to solve practical engineering problems. The course combines theoretical foundations with practical laboratory sessions to reinforce students' understanding and prepare them for more advanced studies in electronics and electrical engineering.
