This course, designed for Master 1 students in Materials Chemistry, introduces the fundamental concepts of nanoscience and nanotechnology. It aims to provide an understanding of the specific characteristics of materials at the nanoscale, where their physical, chemical, electronic, optical, and mechanical properties can differ significantly from those of bulk materials.
The course covers the fundamental principles and concepts of nanomaterials, their classification, properties, and the main synthesis, characterization, and analytical techniques. Particular attention is given to the relationship between the structure, size, morphology, and properties of nanomaterials.
Finally, the course explores the main applications of nanotechnology in various fields, including energy, environmental protection, catalysis, healthcare, and advanced materials, while also raising awareness of the challenges and issues associated with their development and use.
